2017-2018 ACL Committees

 

BOARD COMMITTEES

 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee shall have the authority to act on behalf of the Board to provide direction to the Executive Director. It will serve as the operations oversight committee and will receive regular reports from the Standing Committee chairs.

Chair: Claire Ramsbottom, Colleges of the Fenway, ACL President

Members: Beth Moy, Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education and ACL Vice President; Cristin Toutsi Grigos, Association of Governing Boards of Universities & Colleges and ACL Secretary; Neal Abraham, Five Colleges Incorporated and ACL Treasurer; Kiernan Mathews, The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education and Member at-Large.

 

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is charged with the selection of qualified candidates for election to the Board.

Chair: Cristin Toutsi Grigos, Association of Governing Boards of Universities & Colleges

Members: Larry Dotolo, Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education; Owen Williams, Associated Colleges of the South; Irene Burgess, Pennsylvania Consortium for the Liberal Arts.

 

Professional Development Committees

One of the ACL's primary goals is developing the skills and talents of those working in higher education collaborations and leading higher education consortia. The chair of Professional Development works with the three subcommittees focused on this work to ensure synergy between our efforts.

Professional Development Chair: Kiernan Mathews, The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education.

 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUBCOMMITTEES

 

Virtual Professional Development Committee

This committee plans and delivers periodic professional development programs in webinar, podcast, and other virtual formats. They offer a series of virtual programs providing deeper coverage of conference topics and issues that emerge from member feedback.

Annual Conference Committee 2018

The annual conference planning committee aids the conference host in planning the content of the annual conference. Planning efforts aim to develop interactive learning and the building of shared knowledge in conference sessions.

Co-Chairs: Larry Dotolo, Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education and Cristin Toutsi Grigos, Association of Governing Boards of Universities & Colleges.

Summer Institute 2018

The purpose of the ACL Summer Institute is to better equip leaders of higher education collaborative organizations for the challenges of the future by professionalizing their roles and building a curriculum for a leadership workshop based on a well-defined body of knowledge regarding high-impact practices in collaborative leadership.

Finance Committee

Membership Recruitment and Retention

The purpose of the ACL Membership Recruitment and Renewal Committee is to work with the Finance Committee and ACL management to oversee development and implementation of strategies and their schedule to optimize ACL membership recruitment and renewal.

Chair: Steven J. Harvey, Western New York Consortium of Higher Education

Members: Tasha Baclawski, Colleges of the Fenway; Lauren Scungio, The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education; Irene Burgess, Pennsylvania Consortium for the Liberal Arts and ACL liaison to New Member Services.

 

Knowledge Creation Committee

The Knowledge Creation Committee will facilitate the study of current and emerging practices in higher education collaboration through the collection and development of new articles, publications and presentations, as well as through actively eliciting knowledge from member leaders around topics as they arise. 

Chair: Jeanine Went, Higher Education Consortium of Central Massachusetts 

Members: Steve Harvey, Western New York Consortium of Higher Education;  Lindsey Interlante, Colonial Academic Alliance; Beth Moy, Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education.

 

New Member Services

The Member Services Committee has two main functions: Welcoming new members to ACL and maintaining a new member support group that provides outreach, networking, and guidance for new members (whether new individuals in an existing member organization or new organizations).

Chair: Irene Burgess, Pennsylvania Consortium for the Liberal Arts

Members: Martha Malinski, Association of Colleges of Sisters of St. Joseph; Kiernan Mathews, The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education

 

Strategic Planning Task Force

The ACL Board or Executive Committee may appoint Task Forces or other Committees as deemed necessary to advance the vision and mission of the ACL.
